McLaren雖然在9月13日遭判決取消車隊錦標資格以及積分，不過先前所獲得的積分仍足以讓McLaren勝過BMW Sauber的總分，僅次於Ferrari排在第二位，這也得以分配獎金，七折八扣下來只需支付五千多萬，FIA網開一面沒讓McLaren硬梆梆吐出一億美元，否則就算McLaren在有錢，肯定也要重傷。

McLaren發表官方新聞稿，證實Fernando Alonso將離隊，雙方結束痛苦緊張的合作關係。2007年賽季真是讓人開了眼界，關注焦點幾乎都落在McLaren車隊上面，先是爆發首席設計師非法持有Ferrari機密資料的醜聞，接著傳出兩位車手不合，Alonso抱怨未受禮遇，後來越演越烈到了Alonso私下威脅老闆Ron Dennis，公開抨擊車隊，McLaren也表達對西班牙人的不滿，雙方勢如水火，已到無法收拾的局面。


回顧1991年Alain Prost因為抨擊Ferrari，結果賽季沒跑完就被逐出車隊。今日McLaren以大局為重，讓Alonso順利跑到巴西站結束。既然達成協議提前解約，雙方不可免俗的發表一些虛偽祝福的話，好留下最後一絲情面。
